As you read this week in your textbook, communication is a process that is constantly changing, rather than a simple static activity. In this next learning activity, see if you can identify the elements of the communication process in the Transactional Communication Model. Although these learning activities are not graded, they are still essential to your success in this course.
1. Identify the Elements of the Transactional Model
Now that you have discovered the various elements of the transactional model, we are going to take a closer look at how noise can impact the communication situation. Noise is a factor that impacts the communication situation and disrupts the transmission of the intended meaning of the message. In this activity, you will learn about and identify the difference between external and internal noise.
2. Can you identify the type of noise?
You should now have an idea of the difference between internal and external noise. To check your understanding of these concepts proceed to the next learning activity where you will test your new knowledge. In these next two learning activities you will test your understanding of internal and external noise. In this learning object, internal noise is called psychological noise and physiological noise is dubbed external noise.
3. Which examples are physiological noises?
4. Which examples are psychological noises?
After completing all of the learning activities about the transactional model, it is time to put your new found knowledge into practice! Check your understanding and if you can answer "yes!" to the questions below, then proceed to the "Assignments" portion of this learning module.
